With regard to the last two registers, wine and liquor

exported and duty paid on wine and liquor, there were four books kept;

on the 22nd January, I addressed the following to the Superintendent:-

So as to keep correct satistics of European Liquors and

Chinese Wines imported, duty paid, and exported, I have

found it necessary to submit the following changes in the

keeping of the Registers of this part of procedure. At

present two Registers are kept for imported duty paid liquors.

one for European Wines &c. and one for Chinese Wines. Such

Registers entail much clerical work owing to numerous

headings which I find are quite unnecessary both in point

of check and etatistica. Herewith for your approval a

proforma of a Register which combines the two present
